DCA's Northern Patagonia Fishing Program

DCA's Northern Patagonia Fishing Program was created to give serious anglers an authentic Patagonian adventure. This lodge caters to small parties, offering an alternative to exclusive private estancia fishing.

Centered around the charming town of Aluminé in extreme northern Patagonia, Argentina, the region is reminiscent of northern New Mexico or southern Colorado. This area is home to several important rivers and lakes that are seldom fished. The majestic Aluminé River and it’s many tributaries offer hundreds of miles of uncrowded quality fly fishing.

DCA's Northern Patagonia Fishing Program was created to bring great trout fishing and local guides together to provide for a distinctly unique Patagonian experience.

The Fishing:

High Season - Nov 1 – May 31 **(high season is Dec 15-Mar 31…early season is great fishing, late season can be good for spawning migratory fish and good for combos with wingshooting, such as duck, perdiz).

The Northern Patagonia Fishing Club offers the most diversity of water types and the most classic fly fishing of any program in Patagonia. Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout are available in a broad mix of public and private waters, by either wade fishing or float fishing, all within a short driving distance from the lodge.

While all fishing techniques work here, the distinguishing feature of this region is the abundance of great dry fly fishing water. The often prolific insect hatches and gentler waters provide discriminating anglers with some wonderful ‘match-the-hatch’ sight-fishing possibilities on light rods. This lodge uses absolutely the best local guides available. Born and raised in Aluminé, our local guides are skilled in all aspects of fishing these unique and sometimes challenging waters.

Non Fishing Activities:
Horseback riding, hiking, rafting, shopping and touring

Lodging:
A unique and charming 3 bedroom ranch house on the edge of the town of Aluminé will accommodate anglers on most nights. The house has been improved to provide all the amenities of a great fishing lodge while retaining it’s original ranch house feel. This lodge employs great cooks to keep the food authentic and regional. We serve organic home-cooked meals and boutique wines. We will also set up very comfortable campsites for our overnight float trips.

**(Also available are Estancia Rio Quillen Lodge or Piedra Pintada Lodge when access to there waters is convenient.)

Location:
Aluminé, (population 5,000) is located on the banks of the Rio Aluminé in the province of Neuquen in extreme northern Patagonia, 2 hours to the north of San Martin de los Andes. Anglers can fly into San Martin de los Andes, Bariloche or Neuquen before transferring by van to Aluminé.
