Ketchikan, Alaska (Prince of Wales Island)

The freshwater and saltwater fishing options are endless at this world-class Alaskan fishing lodge. All of the fishing is done just minutes away from the lodge. As an oceanfront fishing lodge, guests not only enjoy exceptional convenience, but seemingly infinite fishing possibilities as well. The variety of native species available at Ketchikan is truly astounding. Anglers visit from all over the world for wild Steelheads, King Salmon, Silver Salmon, Pink Salmon, Alaskan Halibut, Dolly Varden, Cutthroat Trout and so much more! Whether you prefer fly fishing, spin casting or saltwater fishing, the professional guides at this unique Alaskan fishing lodge cater to your every need.

Freshwater Fishing
The freshwater fishing at Ketchikan is absolutely world-class. There is abundant fishing in the nearby rivers, lakes and streams – 23 breathtaking waterways in all. The island’s largest waterway, the Thorne River, is just up the road from the fishing lodge on Thorne Bay. Your experienced Alaskan fishing guide (one for every two anglers) will lead you to the most productive fishing honey holes on the island. Use of the fishing lodge’s premium fly rods and reels, spinning rigs, waders, wading boots and wet weather gear is included in the fishing package. Anglers are supplied with a wide range of equipment to fit the conditions and meet their needs.

Saltwater Fishing
This lodge is also home to trophy-class saltwater fishing. The deep fjords and emerald-green waters of Southeast Alaska’s Inside Passage are well known for the variety of salmon species and monster halibut. Because our fishing lodge is located on the leeward side of Prince of Wales Island, anglers enjoy the comfort of fishing in relatively calm waters. Even on a windy day we experience just a small chop and no open ocean swells. Our 27-foot ocean boat cruisers have been specially designed for your comfort and safety. Each is equipped with a heated cabin, a flushing private toilet and all required tackle. In addition to being experts on the local fishing areas and techniques, our fishing boat captains are U.S. Coast Guard licensed – certified in both First Aid and CPR. This lodge provides anglers with everything needed to ensure an enjoyable and hassle-free Alaskan fishing trip. Saltwater fishing rods, tackle and bait are provided by the fishing lodge. The lodge staff cleans, fillets, steaks, vacuum packs, freezes and boxes your saltwater fish for you to take home. Freezer facilities are on hand at most major hotels and motels in Ketchikan, as well as at the charter carrier’s facilities. Freezer storage is also available at SeaTac Airport, if you need to overnight in Seattle.

Other Activities
The best in Alaskan freshwater and saltwater fishing trips is just the beginning. We invite you to bring the whole family on this extraordinary adventure. Non-fishing guests can enjoy whale watching, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking and guided fly-out excursions for hiking and nature photography. Trips to Anan Creek Bear Observatory, El Capitan Caves and Kasaan’s Totem Pole Village are all popular with non-fishing guests.

The Lodge
Our scenic oceanfront fishing lodge is comprised of two main guest houses that can comfortably accommodate up to 19 anglers. Suites have a unique “rustic elegance” ambience. Each suite is tastefully furnished with the idea of the guest’s total relaxation and comfort in mind. The cuisine at the fishing lodge is internationally renowned. A private team of classically trained culinary experts serves the best in regional and continental cuisine. The lodge’s dedicated house staff provides an array of special services, including maid and laundry service.

Location
Perfectly situated in the heart of Alaska’s wilderness frontier, the lodge is just 35 miles northwest of Ketchikan (across the Inside Passage) on Prince of Wales Island.
